Unique Marketing Options For Startups in 2019

One of the biggest challenges for businesses of any size is working with a limited marketing budget, and this is even more true when it comes to startups. As a result, startups have to find original and cost-effective ways to gain traction for their business and expose their brand to the masses.

And with the proper course of action and strategy, it’s possible to gain lots of visibility when you use creativity and explore options that are often overlooked. Here are a few unique marketing options your startup should consider using in 2019.

Guerilla Marketing

With guerilla marketing, you’ll be able to leverage originality, creativity and imagination instead of relying on a big marketing budget. Guerilla marketing has helped many small players compete with bigger more established businesses in the same sector.

But you don’t have to create an elaborate flash mob campaign to get the benefits of guerilla marketing. Something as simple as having someone painting the side of your building with a nice eye-catching mural could be enough to get people’s attention.

Another thing you could consider is using undercover marketers to covertly market your products to clients. Sony, for instance, used this method to advertise their cameras by instructing agents to ask passers-by to take a picture of them, and then start talking about how good the camera is.

Use branded lapel pins

Lapel pins can help promote your business in many ways. They’re easy to customize, are fashionable, and easy to wear. You can give them away at conventions, conferences, remembrances or expos. Many companies like Hard Rock Café or Disney gave away lapel pins as collectibles to their clients. You might not be aware of this, but there’s a huge lapel pin collector scene where people trade and sell unique lapel pins to add to their collection.

If you design a unique enough lapel pin that represents your business, people will actually hold on to it and collectors might pick them up to add them to their collection. There are plenty of companies that will allow you to create lapel pins custom made for your company, so don’t be afraid to get creative and create a lapel pin that will catch your customers’ attention.

Start a podcast

Starting a podcast is a great way to create easily digestible content for your website while positioning yourself as an authority in your niche. You’ll also be able to generate easy content through interviews with other movers and shakers in your industry.

Creating a podcast is simple, and is easily integrable with social media. All you need is a microphone, a website and a computer or phone to get started. And you can also videotape your podcast to get visibility on YouTube.

Creating instructional Videos

Speaking of YouTube, one of the best ways to use video to market your brand is by creating instructional videos. Instead of simply advertising your products, you can give instructions on how to perform certain tasks and use your product in the process.

While creating professional videos can be costly, you can always try doing it in house or by hiring a young videographer on Craigslist to cut costs. Explainer videos can also work well depending on your niche and can be done on the cheap too.

If you’re working with a limited budget for your startup and you’re trying to make a mark, you’ll have to think outside the box. These few methods will allow you to stand out while saving on advertising and using your creativity to have the maximum impact on your audience.
