Don’t Just Keep Pace With Competitors, Lead Them

“The ability to learn faster than your competitors may be only sustainable competitive advantage.” Arie de Geus

Most companies develop strategies to outpace the competition. To offer a better service and win over customers, your brand needs to be positioned around an amazing service delivery or product that makes it difficult for others to replicate. To make this happen, you have to answer why prospective customers are choosing your competitors over your obviously superior offering. What are you not doing right?

Creating your own special way to treat customers, creating an experience that’s unique, or creating a totally new and frictionless way for people to get a result is how you stand out from the competition.

Create a difference that can’t be easily copied and keep innovating. Allow your employees room to be creative and stand out from the competition.

Work on strategies that will make it easy for your customers to identify with you as you keep growing and innovating.Apple disrupted the MP3 player market with its iPod. And since then the company keeps releasing different types and upgraded versions that customers identify with. Apple has been consistent with new versions of its products almost every year. And dedicated customers anxiously wait for new versions. iPhone 5 is almost here and people will again rush to buy them.

Its important to stay ahead of the competition at all times, but the most difficult part of being a leader in the industry is maintaining that position.

Don ’ t just keep pace with competitors, lead them.
